Tenuta Sant'Elia is a historic farmhouse dating back to the 1500s that has been renovated and fortified in the 1990s. Over time, the farmhouse has been transformed into a hospitality structure, serving as an ideal venue for weddings and events. The change in its use highlighted the need to increase the capacity of the covered areas, which led to the decision of covering the spacious inner courtyard with a lightweight structure.
The project for the covering was entrusted to Sprech, a company specialized in the design and production of gazebos, pergolas, and tensile structures for over 40 years. Sprech handled the design, manufacturing, and installation process. The result is a lightweight architecture that seamlessly integrates into the existing architectural context, creating a harmonious space.
The structure was created by assembling Pergole Marte with steel lattice frames and a double retractable system using Cristal Trio by Giovanardi for the lower part and PVC for the upper part. Cristal Trio is a highly transparent and flexible PVC film characterized by extraordinary dimensional stability, making it ideal for large-scale projects. In the installation at Tenuta Sant'Elia, Cristal Trio provides an excellent aesthetic appearance to the structure, allowing for an unobstructed view of the open sky in absolute comfort.
Thanks to its lightweight and flexibility, it allows for easy opening and closing of the spaces, creating indoor and outdoor areas in just a few minutes. The covering ensures protection from the sun, wind, and rain simultaneously.
Sprech's retractable pergolas allow for ventilation in the room and provide guests with an unobstructed view of the surroundings. Additionally, the temperature is naturally regulated thanks to the double retractable system of the pergolas. The versatility of the retractable pergolas allows for adjustments to the conditions based on specific needs, such as changing weather conditions or an event that requires a completely shaded environment. With Cristal Trio, it is possible to invent, design, and imagine solutions that start from an idea and transform into engineering techniques.
